Privacy policy
This policy explains what trevorqueen.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website and to the Future of Learning newsletter.
Who is responsible
Trevor Queen is the data controller for this site and the newsletter. For any privacy question, or to exercise any right below, email trevor@trevorqueen.com.
Trevor Queen611 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 900
Los Angeles, CA 90017

What is collected
- Newsletter details. The email address you give, and your first name if you provide one. Both are optional in the sense that you do not have to subscribe; the email address is required if you do.
- Consent record. The fact that you ticked the consent box, plus the date, time and IP address at the moment you subscribed. This is kept as proof of consent, which the law requires.
- Email engagement. Whether you open an issue and which links you click. This is measured per subscriber, not just in aggregate, and it is used to judge which issues are useful.
- Messages you send. If you email, that email and its contents.
- Basic request data. Standard server logs kept by the hosting provider, including IP address and browser user agent.
- Campaign tags. Links on this site and in emails carry UTM parameters so it is possible to tell which page or issue a visit came from.
What is not collected
No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics pixels, no data brokers, no selling or renting your details to anyone, ever. There is no cookie banner because no advertising or analytics cookies are set.
Why, and on what legal basis
- To send the newsletter — on the basis of your consent, given by ticking the box at signup. You can withdraw it at any time.
- To measure whether issues are read — on the basis of the same consent, which is why the consent wording says so explicitly.
- To reply to you — on the basis of legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch.
- To keep the site up and secure — on the basis of legitimate interest in operating the service.
Who processes it
Newsletter data is stored in a self-hosted Listmonk instance and sent via Resend from the domain news.trevorqueen.com. The site is hosted on Vercel. Fonts are served by Google Fonts, which receives the request for the font file. Each of these processes data only to provide its service.
How long it is kept
Subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, after which the record is removed within 30 days except where a suppression entry must be kept to honour your unsubscribe. Emails you send are kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent at any time.
If you are in the EU or UK (GDPR): all of the above apply, and you may complain to your local supervisory authority.
If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA): you may request disclosure of the categories of personal information collected, request deletion, and opt out of sale or sharing. Your personal information is never sold or shared for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the right stands. Exercising any right will never get you worse treatment.
To exercise any of these, email trevor@trevorqueen.com. Requests are answered within 30 days.
Unsubscribing
Every email has a working one-click unsubscribe link in the footer. It takes effect immediately and no further issues are sent. You can also email trevor@trevorqueen.com and ask.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16, and their data is not knowingly collected. If you believe a child has subscribed, email trevor@trevorqueen.com and the record will be deleted.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and subscribers are told in a newsletter issue before the change takes effect.
Terms of use
Agreement
By using trevorqueen.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

You may share and quote short extracts with clear attribution and a link. You may not reproduce the photography, republish issues in full, or use any of it to train a machine-learning model without written permission.
Your conduct
Do not attempt to breach the site’s security, scrape it at a volume that degrades it for others, submit anyone else’s email address to the newsletter, or use any contact route to send unsolicited commercial email.
Third-party links
